About Me

Welcome! Let me begin by introducing myself: I am a teacher, writer, creative, and lifelong learner.

I began teaching in a part-time capacity at a very young age, instructing dance classes, after-school programs, and summer camps, and quickly developed my own curriculums, behavior management styles, and approaches to teaching. I began teaching dance classes at seventeen years old and to this day, still find some of my greatest joy in teaching the art and skill of dance. After years of teaching at the elementary level part-time, I was offered an in-office position with the non-profit that I taught for but before long I realized that I missed the classroom and building one-on-one connections with students, watching them grow and thrive with my support. After this, I decided to dive into the deep end of full-time education and test the waters of secondary education, and am now finishing my Masters in Teaching and beginning my third year as a ninth-grade English Language Arts instructor.
My philosophies on teaching center around the concepts of emotional intelligence, social-emotional learning, and Maslow’s theory of the hierarchy of needs. I recognize that physiological, safety, and emotional needs must be met before my students are able to focus on academic and cognitive growth, and do my best to accommodate these requirements. Additionally, by teaching my students to understand and manage their own emotions as well as to understand and have empathy for the experiences of others, I believe they are not only better learners but will enter the world as better people.
